2025 Legislative Agenda
The 2025 Legislative Agenda accompanies The Chamber’s Policy Platform and details specific steps we encourage the NC General Assembly to take during this year’s legislative session.
Expand State Resources for Affordable Housing Development
The shortage of affordable housing continues to affect individuals and families across our community. We urge the General Assembly to prioritize the expansion of state resources dedicated to affordable housing initiatives, ensuring that everyone has access to safe and stable housing options.
Close The Childcare Facility Funding Gap and Pursue Long-term Reforms
Access to affordable childcare is essential for working families and vital to our economy. We urge action to close the funding gap for childcare facilities and commit to strengthening our childcare network statewide.
Advance Workforce Training Reforms
The North Carolina Community College System’s proposed Propel NC policy reforms incentivize training programs for high-demand career paths. We encourage adoption of the Propel NC proposal to address skills gaps and promote economic growth statewide.
Reform Tax Assessment Rules for Affordable Housing Units
Current tax assessment rules hinder efforts to develop income-qualified affordable housing units. We urge reforms to incentivize the development and preservation of affordable housing, creating more inclusive communities.
Support Chapel Hill’s North-South Bus Rapid Transit Line
This infrastructure project offers vital workforce mobility solutions and transportation alternatives to combat road congestion. We encourage the state legislature to support Chapel Hill’s North-South Bus Rapid Transit Line to enhance regional connectivity and economic growth.
Support Hurricane Helene Recovery
We urge the state legislature to provide support for ongoing relief and rebuilding efforts for committees impacted by Hurricane Helena. Recovery for Western NC will require sustained effort to ensure statewide resilience and economic stability.
